Mayor Lowery's New Business and New Job Claims

In 2002 Bob Russell, Director of Economic Development told the St. Louis Business Journal "Since Mayor Robert Lowery took office in February 2001, 201 businesses have opened, creating 1,200 new jobs."

In early 2006 the City of Florissant was recognized by North County Inc. in part because "According to Mayor Lowery, more than 850 new businesses and over 4,500 new jobs have come to Florissant."  Later in 2006 the St. Louis Business Journal reported Mayor Lowery's office said "several hundred new businesses have opened and 4,000 jobs have been created..."

During Mayor Lowery's campaign for re-election in 2007 city officials were quoted as saying "about 1,200 new businesses - mostly retail - have popped up..."
